First Responder Mental Health

you’re trained to hold it together. we’re here when it gets heavy

Mental health care built around the realities of first responder life, including the culture, the trauma, and the reasons it's hard to ask for help.

First responders carry a particular kind of weight. The things you've seen don't stay at work. The culture that makes you good at your job can also make it harder to acknowledge when you're struggling. And most mental health providers, however well-intentioned, don't fully understand the world you operate in.

At Tanglewood, we do. Our providers have specific training and experience working with law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and military personnel. We understand operational stress, hypervigilance, moral injury, cumulative trauma, and the complex relationship between identity and the job. We also understand why confidentiality feels especially important in this work, and we take that seriously.

Care here is direct and practical, not just reflective. We'll meet you where you are, whether that's managing acute symptoms, working through specific incidents, addressing relationship strain, or building the resilience to keep doing what you do.

Who This is For

Active and retired first responders, public safety personnel, dispatchers, and military members dealing with PTSD, moral injury, depression, anxiety, burnout, substance use, or relationship strain connected to occupational stress. Also family members of first responders who are navigating the secondary impact of this work.

What to Expect

We start with a consultation to understand your situation and match you with the right provider. From there, care is tailored to your schedule, your goals, and the kind of support that actually fits your life. Virtual appointments are available for privacy and convenience.
